Flint Housing (“Flint”) held its first resident engagement day at North Kensington Gate (“NKG”), four months after the 85-home development in Hammersmith & Fulham reached full occupancy.

The event, held on Wednesday 29th July, was attended by 48 residents from 18 households, and delivered in collaboration with Pinnacle, Flint's housing management provider, JAR, the estate & block manager at NKG, and Martin Arnold, Flint's Technical Adviser, Employer's Agent and Clerk of Works.

The event gave residents the opportunity to meet the organisations responsible for the day-to-day management of their homes and communal areas and to raise questions directly, with items requiring follow up recorded for action in an informal setting with pizza, ice-cream, face-painting and games so residents of all ages could enjoy the day.

Freshly made pizza from The Pizza Post kept residents of all ages well fed throughout the afternoon.

We took the opportunity to connect with our residents, to discuss how they were settling in, listen to feedback on what is working well but also how we, and our partners, can effect improvements to better support the community.

Meeting residents face to face gave the team a chance to hear directly how people are settling into their new homes.

Residents commented on the spaciousness of their homes, which across all homes are on average 12.5% above the Nationally Described Space Standards, as well as the quality of the communal spaces. Residents shared suggestions for improvements, ranging from addition of bins to the garden area and alternative arrangements for parcel storage.

Through our conversations, Flint also identified residents who expressed an interest in taking a more active role in how services are delivered. Initially, residents will help review and support a number of new customer initiatives being introduced with Pinnacle and further development of our new website.

“Speaking to residents directly gives us a chance to hear what is working well, what has made settling into a new home and community easier, and where we can do more. These conversations are important because they help us work with our partners to turn feedback into practical improvements that make a real difference. While many of our services are delivered through third-party partners, accountability to residents remains with us and so we will continue to stay closely connected to the services residents receive.

As our pipeline continues to grow across London, insights gained from delivering this scheme and resident feedback will inform our decision making on future homes, communal spaces, communities and services.

We look forward to holding further engagement events across our existing and forthcoming developments.”
